As well as teaching music at Cambridge University, Francis has also taught courses at Madingley Hall www.ice.cam.ac.uk/ and given courses and workshops. He teaches private pupils on early keyboard instruments (harpsichord, clavichord, organ) and usually has a number of vacancies.
Clavichord Workshop and Masterclass, led by Francis Knights and Dan Tidhar
10.00am-5.00pm, Saturday 22 April 2017, The Workshop, Kendal Way, Cambridge CB4 1LT
This one-day event for both students and amateurs is designed for clavichord players who wish to explore repertoire and technique; for other keyboard players (organ, harpsichord, piano) who wish to be introduced to the art of clavichord playing; and for those interested in performance and performance practice issues. Music from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Modern periods will be considered, as well as discussion of issues such as technique, fingering, tuning and maintenance. There will be a four-octave and a five-octave clavichord in each of the teaching rooms, and players are also encouraged to bring their own instruments.
For reasons of space, numbers are limited to eight participants (£35) and four auditors (£20). For more information, or to book a place, please email Francis Knights on firstname.lastname@example.org
