Three harpsichords

23/06/2018 12:22

As part of the usual May Week recital series at Jesus College, we turned up with three harpsichords for a rare (and probably unique) programme of Bach and contemporary music, including the premiere of a new version of Vulcan Chess (2018) by Mark Bellis (world premiere of this version), the Superlocrian Trio (2012) by David W. Solomons (world premiere) and Edwin McLean's Sonata for three harpsichords (1998). The Bach included the Ricercar a6 (from The Musical Offering, BWV 1079) and a very enjoyable clatter through my new arrangement of Brandenburg Concerto No.3.
